ikonForums is a completly free Perl and MySQL driven message board software package design for users and site administrators in mind. Feature-packed, easy to install, and easy to use.
iF 1.0.1 available and a new look site
It's been a few months since iF 1.0.0 was launched at the start of the year, and since then further development has been made in improving ikonForums. We can now announce the release of iF 1.0.1, the latest in the 1.0 series. This release fixes a problem with mass private messaging, along with a number of other minor fixes.
For those who've not tried ikonForums before (and for those who have) we'd like to mention the overhaul to our skinning system, which is now powered by our own 'ISIS' (Intuitive Selective Interoperable Skins). In addition to that, the QuickReply system is now AJAX-enabled, so you never have to refresh to see your post added. Finally, while it may not be noticeable to the average user, we've done some things that will make the server admins out there very happy. A lot of work has been done "under the hood" so to speak, and in many places, the number of queries has been optimized to cut the load by about fifty percent. That means less load on your database server, and a more efficient software product.
Also as returning visitors will have noticed this site has received a bit of a makeover. This new look replaces the original site design, which had been in use since the site launched back in 2006. The main change which you may notice is that the URLs on the site are now more friendly. Also we've adopted a wider layout to the site, which follows in the footsteps of many of the larger websites.
